Pondicherry Varsity Students Launch Magazine

The Pondicherry University Students’ Council has come up with its annual magazine under the name ‘Widerstand’ which means ‘resistance’ in German. The students said that the magazine stands in solidarity with students movements in campuses and movements against draconian laws.




On Thursday, the Dean of Students’ Welfare Prakash Babu, Hyderabad Central University, released the magazine in the presence of Pondicherry University Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) Anisa Basheer Khan, Dean of Students’ Welfare P. Moorthy and students’ council members.

Indonesian Painters To Fund Children's Education

Thirty paintings by Indonesian artists are being exhibited for sale at The Dharmawangsa Jakarta in South Jakarta until July 27 to help fund education for children in need.



Dubbed Art Charity for Education, the event coincides with National Children’s Day on July 23 and is hosted by Bank Mandiri alongside Hoshizora Foundation, Sicincin Indonesia Contemporary Art (SICA), Bimasena and Saravasti Communication and Publication.

Chennai Boy Won Asia Pacific Science Award From Google

A 14-year-old boy R Advay from Chennai has made the city proud by winning the prestigious Google Science Fair Community Impact Award 2016 (Asia-Pacific Region), which was announced on Tuesday, for his project on enhancing the safety and productivity of fishermen using Global Positioning Services (GPS). The award includes a grant of $1,000 in funding and a year-long mentorship from Scientific American to develop his project further.



City Express caught up with the elated student of National Public School a few hours after the announcement. “I’m very excited to have won the award. I worked very hard on the project,” said Advay, and added that the idea for his project, FishErmen Lifeline Terminal (FELT), came to him when he saw the news of several fishermen from Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu repeatedly being arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy for trespassing maritime boundaries.

Free Education For Orphans In Rajasthan Universities And Colleges

The Rajasthan government has decided not to charge orphans for education in its universities and colleges, higher education minister Kali Charan Saraf announced on Sunday.


The free education policy will be implemented from this year in 24 state-run universities and their 207 constituent or affiliated colleges, Saraf said in Kota. The minister, however, clarified that the decision was not binding on private colleges.

Russia To Promote Marine Education And Technology In India

Government of Andhra Pradesh has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the State Marine Technical University of Russia for promoting marine education and technology in the state. The MoU was signed by Chief Minister (CM) of Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu at St. Petersburg, Russia.


According to the statement issued by the government of Andhra Pradesh, the MoU will benefit the marine segment in India and Andhra Pradesh as the university works closely with companies like United Shipbuilding Corporation and Rosoboronexport, which are major defence companies specializing in marine systems and technology.

3G Screen Education System In Hamilton's Life Education Trust

Hamilton kids will now be getting the classic Life Education team visiting their school with a modern twist. The Hamilton Life Education Trust has recently installed a new 3G screen in their mobile classroom, opening up teaching possibilities.


The trust that has brought the characters Harold the Giraffe and TAM to many Kiwi kids around the country will now be able to do "way more things", Life Education teacher Trish Thurston said.
