Haryana govt to set up fishery college in Hisar

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar laid foundation stone of the new campus of Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences and said the government plans to set up a fishery science college here. 


Haryana Government will set up fishery science college in Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences here which would provide employment opportunities to the youth, he said. Khattar was speaking after laying the foundation stone of the new campus of the university.

Upgrade midday meal facilities in Schools : MPHRC

Acting on a Hindustan Times report about poor mid-day meal facilities in the schools, the state human rights commission has issued recommendations to the government for immediate up gradation of such facilities so that students get hygienic and healthy food.


Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) said mid-day meal should be served in a clean surrounding and number of plates, glass and other utensils should be more than the number of students in the school.

Transgenders get education aid from Kalki Subramanian

Activist and artist Kalki Subramanian donated the money she earned by selling her paintings for the education of four transgenders in the city on the eve of World Transgender Day.


"One of the beneficiaries, Anu, has completed her under-graduation. She wanted to pursue IELTS, but did not have money to pay her fees. While Lalitha and her mother are struggling to pay her nursing fees, Kotravai wants to pursue law and Maitreyi, Siddha medicine. I wanted to help them.

Govt launches portal for complaints against Private schools

Now, there is an online portal to exclusively register complaints against private schools. The education minister Manish Sisodia launched the "grievance redressal and monitoring system for private unaided recognized schools" is a time-bound one. Officials get 15 days to inquire into and close a case.


"We have been getting a lot of complaints about public schools — on fees, books, admissions, etc. The portal will have the complete list of all private schools. DDEs (deputy directors of education) will be alerted immediately," said Sisodia at the launch.

Government launches Pradhan Mantri Yuva Yojana for Entrepreneurs

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship launched Pradhan Mantri Yuva Yojana to scale up an ecosystem of entrepreneurship for youngsters. "The scheme spans over five years (2016-17 to 2020-21) with a project cost of Rs 499.94 crore and will provide entrepreneurship education and training to over 7 lakh students in 5 years through 3,050 institutes," an official statement said. 

"It will also include easy access to information and mentor network, credit, incubator and accelerator and advocacy to create a pathway for the youth."

Army launches 'School Chalo' operation in South Kashmir

After 'Operation Calm down' in South Kashmir, Army is now focussing on another operation 'School Chalo', under which it identifies areas and provides students with free coaching and make them participate in extra-curricular activities.



"We know we have to deal situation on the internal front and we are doing that with desired results. But simultaneously during my interaction with locals, I felt they were worried about the studies of their children, but at the same time anxious about their security.

Government schools tie up with Cambridge University

Maharashtra for the first time in history will offer an international programme for Class 10 students from the next academic year. The state education department will launch the Secondary School Certificate International (SSC-I) programme for 100 state government schools, in association with the University of Cambridge on a pilot basis.


“It will implemented for 100 schools to make SSC international,” confirmed state education minister Vinod Tawde. As part of the programme, the students will be prepared to answer programmes for international student assessment, progress in international reading literacy study, and trends in science study and mathematics.
